Shalimar in Clifton Park

Very authentic food. I missed the buffet but I will be coming back for it. Somewhat hard to understand the server but we worked thru it and I’m glad we did. I had a soup and some app that was really good. Lamb in yellow curry on level 9 hotness is why this place is in business.

They have the best lunch buffet. Good selection of meat and vegan dishes. Friendly and clean, food is always good and hot. Love their plain and onion nan, plus rice pudding too!

Shalimar is my favorite restaurant in Clifton Park. The food is delicious - always. The staff is attentive and kind. I always leave happy.

LOVE THIS PLACE! Been coming for 5 years and it the best Indian food in the area. We brought our friend from India she said it was very authentic. I love the lunch buffet so much it rotates and has lots of quality options and great price! I go out with coworkers for lunch and it’s ver expedient service. I also love coming for dinner and taking my time for multiple courses. Definitely go here you will not be disappointed!

Great buffet ! We eat here all the time. If you are a curry fan then this is for you! I love the selection they have here, great for a quick bite. Drink is included in the buffet too I always get the spiced iced tea with lemon love the food 😍

This place is great for me because i have to work very early in the morning. So im having dinner at lunch time. Lunch buffet is great and cheap .i Havent tried their dinner buffet its a litttle more but not expensive either. Only complaint is that they dont always replenish the naan on slow days. And another place has a mango custard for dessert. I wish shalimar had that, rice pudding is meh.

Hopeless restaurant. I am shocked how this place has 4.4 rating?Staff isn’t professional at all. And there’s no working AC inside the restaurant though they have siting option available inside with social distancing. So it was boiling hot in this summer heat. Buffet food was cheap for 12 dollars with plenty of veg and non veg options but, it looked extremely thick and greasy as if it’s been cooked multiple times. Won’t recommend to anyone who cares about good health and a decent food.

Awesome food, great prices! Only 4 stars bc they close a bit early for my personal preference. Another hour later on weekends would surely be 5 stars!!

I love this place. The lunch buffet always hits the spot. New rules ...wear a mask and gloves when visiting the buffet. But beyond that same great taste and same great service.

Excellent lunch time buffet. The restaurant is a gem. It has been discovered as table fill up quickly at lunch time. They have an extensive menu from appetizers to a creamy ethnic rice pudding. You can get a meal with a soft drink or iced tea or lemonade for $10.00 and go back as often as you wish. They quickly come by to remove soiled plates and refresh your drinks. They are constantly filling the buffet with tandoori chick, chicken tikka masalla , naan and several vegetarian options. In the summer you can also eat outside. I have noticed that it is child friendly. This is a best buy in Clifton Park.

The food is always delicious here, and the people are all very friendly. I asked for a recommendation for a non spicy dish for my 3 year old son, and they did not disappoint (chicken tikka masala)! He powered through 2 full servings, and finished the entree in 2 days, a feat for him! I myself am a creature of habit, and went outside my usual order to try something new. Now I have a new favorite! Fully recommend chana masala, mattar paneer, and chicken samosas, but have never had anything I didn't fully enjoy!

This was my first time eating here and I was thoroughly impressed. The food was fresh and delicious, with lots of options. The lunch buffet is just enough food so you can try a little bit of everything. The service was on point as well. Being new to the area we are always looking for places to try, so we will return for sure!

First time I ever tried Indian Cuisine was at this place. Best Indian Cuisine hands down. Authentic tastes and ingredients. I love coming here and the staff is always the friendliest.

The staff was pointedly rude at me and my wife while being extremely pleasant with others. Food is greasy, won’t be doing your health any favors by eating here. The restaurant owner doesn’t believe in customer comfort and either doesn’t have an air conditioner or won’t turn it on. What they will turn on is some really bad quality and loud music making it difficult for you and your party to have a conversation. Recommend avoiding. There are plenty other places with better food and service in the area.Edit: after posting my review, I scrolled through most of the reviews posted here and most folks with south East Asian sounding names have rated this joint extremely low. I should have looked past the 4.4 rating.

I was actually very pleasantly surprised at home good the food was and how fast the service was. Very good.

Every time I order here my meal is freshly cooked. The chef is unbelievably talented. My 1st time eating this food and each time I come back it’s better than the 1st time. I also ordered 20 minutes before closing and the chef took his time preparing the food and was NOT rushed. Most other places reheat food. Not this place. Expect your food to always be fresh. Ty Shalimar!!!!

Superior service! I think we have been checked in on 8 times (or more) for drinks and refills. Staff is very customer friendly. Food is phenomenal, different rices and to top it with many different variations of flavored chicken and goat, Curry’s, eggplant, spinach with cheeses (FAVORITE) peta bread, peta bread with Cheese inside (FAVORITE) and some fun dessert choices! 10 out of 10 highly recommend!!

I’ve been going to Shalimar for years now, whenever I’m in town. Always great food and great service. Even better since they expanded the buffet. I wish they’d bring back the option to fill a takeout container from the buffet but I get why they changed that policy.

Decent,cheap restaurant with 99 percent Non-indian customers. Most of the customers are americans and food has been changed to suit their spice needs . All curries were made of cream, with almost no spice in them..If you are a Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi, do remember to notify them first to make your food spicy and not creamy..explain spice levels separately.. their level 5 was 0.5 for us.. They have Buffet options too...

Not an authentic Indian restaurant at all. Tried simple order of basic dishes and very bad taste in both of them.

On my way from Canada to NJ, i stopped here for quick lunch due to Google’s 4+ review. Very bad service - and i promised my self I’ll never ever enter into such ghettos even if i am hungry and craving for Indian food. Very bad service.

Great food, great value!My first visit was on Friday evening, arriving a few minutes after five. We had the buffet, a great value at $11.99 with many choices. Service was excellent, with the owner checking in on everyone.The only downside is that we felt slightly rushed. There was a line waiting for tables when we left. But overall, I can't give Shalimar anything less than five stars.

This is the second time, I have experienced bad customer service at this restaurant. I was disappointed 😔 to see that the spoons and plates had crusted on food. I will not recommended this restaurant to anyone who would like enjoy good authentic food. If you want to taste good Pakistani good you can ahead over to Latham Shalimar.

Great food, low prices, wonderful staff!

Great local Indian Spot. The lunch buffet is under $11 and a bargain compared to other local spots. Food was not stale and fresh. The naan seemed to always run out though. There's not enough supply during rush hour at lunch. Chicken Tandoori could be a little more spicier though, seems like it's just red chicken. I've been to other places and it's always jammed full of flavor and spice.

They have a good menu and good food and they are polite and their servings are priced right for the size. They have really good sweet Lassi. Their chicken korma and chicken tikka masala are awesome.

The employees are very polite, and make sure you are very well taken care of. My favorite dish is the Biriyani, although all the food is very good!

Everything about this was restaurant was amazing!!! It smelled amazing when we walked in and we were immediately greeted. We were given ice water automatically along with our juices and the man made sure to keep our waters full. Neither of us had had Indian or Pakistani food before so when he brought it out, he told us the best ways to eat it. The food was out of this world!! And such large portions! Plus the pricing was amazing. We will definitely be going back!

The food was great! It tasted homemade and soulful.The atmosphere was also fantastic. Everyone was quiet and you really got to immerse yourself in the music. One of the best restaurants around!

Spent $80 here, portions really small. What a waste of money. Food is extremely bland. Theres no way a desi person made this food. Never will order from here again. So disappointed. Your cook needs cooking lessons.

Ordered the chilli chicken and was very pleased. The quantity was generous. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I showed up not too long before their closing time and they didn’t rush at all.
